Three and One Veterinary Advisors is headed by Travis York. He grew up working in his father’s small-animal hospital in Iowa as kennel boy, technician, and receptionist, giving him a hands-on understanding of the joys and challenges of veterinary practice.
After graduating from the University of Iowa with an accounting degree, he also served briefly as the hospital’s manager before moving on to establish his own veterinary advisory firm.
In the 20-plus years since then, he has acquired a remarkable depth of additional experience in helping veterinarians establish, grow, and exit their practices. He has worked with more than 500 veterinarians, guiding them through the lending process to acquire, start or expand their hospitals, coordinating complex deal structures and managing expectations related to minority ownership interests. He’s also helped scores of veterinary hospital owners successfully navigate the sale of their practices in an ever-evolving industry, even earning the title of Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA).

Throughout it all, he has built a network of respected colleagues with complementary skillsets in wealth management, operations, marketing, human resources, and architecture who share Travis’s commitment to helping veterinarians achieve their personal and professional goals. This gives clients streamlined access to a significant breadth of additional advisory expertise and resources when needed.
On the personal side, Travis is husband to Kim and father to three baseball-obsessed boys who, like Travis as a child, can’t get enough time at bat. This lifelong love of the game inspired the name of his firm – Three and One – which refers to the most advantageous position in baseball.
Importantly, it underscores what Travis and his team can do for their veterinary clients by ensuring they’re in the most advantageous position to achieve professional success.
